Start (CTRL+R) begins reading aloud from the current cursor location to the end of the document.

Select Voice (CTRL+V) opens Reading Companion voice setting files. In the dialog box that opens you can choose from the five supplied characters, each waiting to receive custom voice setting from you.

Save Current Voice As... saves your current speed, pitch, volume, and "talking head" settings for later use as a personal or altered (.voi) file.

Volume (F11 or CTRL-F11) makes reading louder or quieter. The highest setting matches the volume setting of your computer.

Pitch (F10 or CTRL-F10) adjusts the reading voice pitch higher or deeper.

Speed (F9 or CTRL-F9) you can respectively speed up or slow down the reading. The initial setting may seem slow, but it is matched to the average reader speed of 200-250 words per minute.  We suggest you find your comfort level by setting the speed to the fastest setting and adjust down from there.  You should find that with HELP Read™ reading along with you an increase in reading speed and word comprehension can be achieved.

Highlight… (F12 or CTRL-F12) you can check to highlight Words or highlight Sentences. Highlighting sentences is the choice of those who tend to scan their reading.  Highlighting words is better for documents with long sentences or for practicing word pronunciation and recognition.
