Line Breaks (CTRL+L) checked reduces the amount of line break to the text format, allowing an unbroken reading of active text (other than the emphasis from sentence punctuation).
Hawaiian Syntax checked indicates that the text document currently reading is written in the Hawaiian Language, which signals the program to pronounce the words as Hawaiian.
Pronounce (CTRL+P) opens a dialog box allowing you to customize or correct the pronunciation of a single word. Be careful not to correct words that have multiple pronunciations such as “read” unless you expect to encounter your phonetic version more often than the original. NOTE: If you make a mistake and save an altered pronunciation in a way that does not prove useful, you will need to line edit the “NEW.DIC” file in your c:\HELPREAD directory. If this happens, it is best to find the erred entry and delete its entire line in the diction file, then go back to HELP Read and correct the word over by having use of the Pronounce dialog box utility to try your phonetic spellings.
Define Abbreviation Selection allows pronunciation of term.
Definition: (CTRL+D) NO LONGER ACTIVE FEATURE had downloaded Webster's definition for the highlighted word from the database at the Carnegie Mellon University.
Synonym: NO LONGER ACTIVE FEATURE downloaded a synonym for the highlighted word from the CMU/Webster database.
Unique Word List Creates a list of unique words based on the current document. This feature is useful for creating document-specific phonetic dictionaries. Just rename your NEW.DIC file and listen to the list of unique words, correcting the mispronounced words as you go. The new NEW.DIC file will contain phonetic misspellings which may be distributed with the etext to ensure proper pronunciation.
