AND I SEZ:

Located in picturesque Palolo Valley ( Home of the Kaau Crater Boys) Hawaiian Kine Grinds is one of about three plate lunch places in the area. Focusing in on (what else) "Hawaiian food" they have taken a similar approach to many mall eateries in terms of their pricing: one choice you pay $4.50, two choices you pay $5.50. three choices, etc. All plates include rice or poi, lomi salmon, and mac salad. Daily specials can range from Beef curry to fried mahi so there's usually something for everyone, even if your not in the mood for Hawaiian.

Da LauLau/Kalua Pig Combo Plate

But hey- if you go into an eatery with a name like "Hawaiian Kine Grinds" you got to try the Hawaiian offerings. It's like going to a steakhouse and ordering fish- sheesh! The Laulau was great, pretty good portions of fish and meat, tasty and not too salty. The Kalua pig was a little too moist, but better moist than dry. the mac salad was a little watery, the lomi salmon was tasty and the Kim Chee was a nice complement ro the plate.

Seems like they found their niche as it was pretty busy when I went by. Most people were ordering some variation of the beef stew, chicken long rice, kalua pig and lau lau.
