She was 58 when the Class of 1959 had her and we thought she had to be
90 or 190! When I read her obit today, I did feel sad. As tough a
teacher as she was, I probably learned more than from most others. I
always knew not to begin a sentence with, "Well."
Well, I know some will be interested in the obit: Katherine Isabelle
Stump, 95, formerly of Bellefontaine Av. and Penn. Ave., died Thursday
at Morningview Care Center.
Born Jan. 1, 1901 (John Lawson's birthday), in Marion, she was the
daughter of the late William L. Stump and Gertrude (Turner) Stump.
She was a retired teacher and began her career in 1923. She taught
English for 38 years at Marion HHS. She was a 1923 graduate of Marion
HHS, a graduate of Ohio SU with a bachelor's degree in science
education. She came to Marion Central HS and taught and, then from 1929
to 1964 taught at Marion HHS.
I'll omit some -- She was a lifelong resident of Marion, survived
by distant cousins. There will be no calling hours and burial will be
in Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus.
I wonder why Columbus? Sure seems strange! Oh well.
(just had to end with another well) R.I.P., Miss Stump.
See Ya in '99
