JESUS: IMMANUEL
DECEMBER 11, 1999
ISAIAH 7:10-17

Immanuel means God with us. God has always been with His people. With Adam and Eve, Genesis 3:8 tells us that "they heard the sound of the Lord walking in the cool of the day." The Old Testament is a testimony of God being with His people through battle, victories, and worship.

The New Testament Gospel shares the ultimate portrait of God’s presence with His People. Immanuel is Jesus, Son of God, our perfect example, doing all things according to God’s will. Jesus told Thomas in John 14:7, ‘if you had known me, you would have known my Father also." Jesus told Phillip in John 14:9, "he who has seen me has seen the Father." Jesus told the Jews in John 10:30, " I and the Father are one." Again in John 10:38, " the Father is in me and I am in the Father." Immanuel, God with us!

Jesus promised in John 14:16 that He would send the presence of the Holy Spirit to be with us forever. This Counselor, which is the Holy Spirit, will teach us and remind us of His teachings.
God is with us every day through Jesus our Savior, the Holy Spirit our Guide. What an awesome gift!

" and lo, I am with you always, to the end of the world. Amen."

Isaiah 7:10-17
“10 Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz, 11 "Ask the LORD your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights." 12 But Ahaz said, "I will not ask; I will not put the LORD to the test." 13 Then Isaiah said, "Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of men? Will you try the patience of my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. 15 He will eat curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right. 16 But before the boy knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, the land of the two kings you dread will be laid waste. 17 The LORD will bring on you and on your people and on the house of your father a time unlike any since Ephraim broke away from Judah--he will bring the king of Assyria.”
