JESUS: THE TRUTH
DECEMBER 13, 1999
JOHN 14:1-7

      Jesus told Pilate, "for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me." John the Baptist, preparing the way, said," The law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."

      Without Jesus there is no truth. Pilate, rather sarcastically asked Jesus, "what is truth ?" The Old Testament prophets cried out, "Truth is nowhere to be found." " Truth has perished, it has vanished from their lips."

      Before Jesus left, He said that His Father will give us the Spirit of Truth. It is our duty as Christians in the world to testify to the truth, just as Jesus did. We are the salt of the earth. We cannot lose our saltiness, or we won’t be good for anything. We need to stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around our waists. Let us salt the earth in truth! Let no compromise be found in us, lest the cross of Christ be put to shame. 

      Jesus said, "if you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free."

John 14:1-7  “1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going." 5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
