JESUS: A STONE
DECEMBER 16, 1999
I PETER 2:6-7
Recently, while traveling in Europe, we stopped at a restaurant to eat dinner. This was not your ordinary everyday restaurant, No, this particular restaurant sat among the mountains of granite and marble with the most spectacular view of these stones laying everywhere. These rocks, the size of boulders, are one of the hardest stones known to man.

As I sat there gazing at the stones and fences everywhere made of both granite and marble, my thoughts ran to the Lord. He needs to be the cornerstone in our marriages, friendships, and our personal walk with Him. How majestic these mountains were!

Soon our dinner arrived and much to my surprise, our main course was served on a stone of very hot marble! There was my steak, sizzling to perfection, right before my eyes, while underneath was the "cornerstone" holding it up until I was ready to take a bite. I stared in wonderment how very much that reminded me of my relationship with the Lord. He is always there, as my cornerstone, promising never to leave me. Even while I am venturing this way and that way, He is unmovable, shiny constant in my life.

1 Peter 2:6-7
“6 For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,”
