The rubric page is very important. It will tell you what your assignments should look like in order to get credit. I have chosen one basic rubric.As the year progresses, you will become very accustomed to it and automatically include the necessary characteristics in your work.

 

 

 

Criteria  Five  Three  One
Expression Composition contains significantly more than the required no. of words. Thoughts are logically and clearly conveyed and connected with well developed paragraphs with intro, supporting details and conclusion as well as transition words connecting the paragraphs. Bibliography (where appropriate) is extensive Composition contains required no. of words and/ or paragraphs but is missing some of the elements of a paragraph. Thoughts are not always clearly conveyed or connected Bibliography where appropriate) meets the minimum qualification Composition contains less than the required no. of words and or paragraphs and/ or paragraphs are missing numerous necessary elements. Ideas may be confusing or disjointed Bibliography (where appropriate is missing or does not meet minimum requirement)
Variety and accuracy of tenses Composition contains verbs from the past, present and future where appropriate with less than five incorrect verb forms Composition contains verbs from the past, present and future where appropriate with less than 7 incorrect verb forms Composition contains fewer tenses than appropriate for the specific topic at hand and/or has 7 or more incorrect verb forms
Variety of vocabulary Composition contains a wide variety of sophisticated vocabulary characteristic of a near native speaker Composition contains a variety of vocabulary characteristic of an intermediate language speaker Composition contains little variety of vocabulary
Sentence structure  Composition contains a wide variety of structures such as subordinate clauses and the errors do not distract the reader Composition contains basic sentences with errors that distract the reader but do not block comprehension Composition contains errors that interfere with comprehension
