Hawai'i History Day 1997-98 Mrs. Dumas

 

Dear Parents and Students,

 

Each student will be required to prepare a project for Hawai'i History Day. Hawai'i History Day is a competition which encourages research in history. The theme this year is "Migration in History" Below you will find a list of weekly assignments which will lead up to the completion of a research project. This projects will be a significant part of the student's grade for second quarter. Students will receive extra credit for presenting their projects at the district fair.. Please sign the paper at the bottom indicating that you have seen the schedule. The students will have a copy of the schedule for their reference. All work must be done on a word processor. Students must save their work on a disk or hard drive.

Remember the following recommendations:

Stress the why, how and significance of the topic.

Demonstrate cause and effect

Travel through time with the theme. It should not be simply a current event.

Show how the political, economic, social and cultural aspects of society have affected and continue to affect the topic.

Use mostly primary resources
